In some cultures, menopause is seen as a momentous milestone in a woman’s life, something to look forward to as a graduation of sorts. In Chinese medicine, we say that when a woman stops menstruating, that blood and Qi that she looses each month gets redirected to her mind and spirit, making her wiser and more creative. Now imagine what it would be like if women actually looked forward to this time in their life.
Unfortunately the transition to menopause isn’t always as smooth as we want and hope for. Effects of past trauma, illness, stress, weakness and the general wear a tear of everyday life, sometimes rear their ugly head during this time; showing up as uncomfortable symptoms, including:
- Night sweats and hot flashes
- Mood swings
- Weight gain
- Pain with intercourse
In combining Chinese medicine, Acupuncture, as well as diet and lifestyle coaching, this transition can be eased by eliminating these uncomfortable symptoms.
