In some cultures, menopause is seen as a momentous milestone in someone's life, something to look forward to as a graduation of sorts. In Chinese medicine, we say that when a person stops menstruating, the blood and Qi (pronounced chee) that they lose each month gets redirected to their mind and spirit, making them wiser and more creative. Now imagine what it would be like if we actually looked forward to this time in our life! Unfortunately the transition to menopause isn't always as smooth as we want or hope for. Effects of past trauma, illness, stress, weakness and the general wear and tear of everyday life, can rear their ugly head during this time, showing up as uncomfortable symptoms, including:

  • Night sweats and hot flashes
  • Mood swings
  • Insomnia
  • Weight gain
  • Dryness
  • Pain with intercourse

In combining Chinese medicine, acupuncture, as well as diet and lifestyle coaching, this transition can be eased by eliminating these uncomfortable symptoms.
